Description
Ethamcip 250 Tablet contains Ethamsylate (250 mg) as its active ingredient. It is an anti-hemorrhagic (blood-clotting) agent used to control or prevent abnormal bleeding.
Uses
Helps in controlling excessive bleeding during or after surgery.
Used in abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), and bleeding associated with intrauterine devices (IUDs).
Assists in reducing bleeding caused by injuries, wounds, trauma, or capillary fragility.
Supports in managing bleeding in conditions like epistaxis (nosebleeds), bleeding gums, and post-dental procedures.
Sometimes prescribed in retinal hemorrhages and small blood vessel disorders to minimize blood loss.
How It Works
Ethamsylate strengthens capillary walls and promotes platelet adhesion, improving blood clot formation at bleeding sites without affecting normal blood coagulation.
Side Effects
Common: Nausea, headache, stomach discomfort, heartburn, diarrhea, or mild skin rash.
Less Common: Dizziness, fever, joint pain, or weakness.
Rare but Serious: Allergic reactions (swelling, itching, breathing issues), low blood pressure, or unusual clot formation.
Precautions
Use under medical supervision. Not recommended in patients with clotting disorders or history of thromboembolic disease unless advised. Avoid self-medication and inform your doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding.
