Description
Tobra D Eye Drop is a combination medication containing tobramycin (an antibiotic) and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid). It is commonly used to treat eye infections caused by bacteria, along with reducing inflammation, redness, and swelling in the eyes. The antibiotic component helps eliminate harmful bacteria, while the steroid component controls immune responses that cause irritation and inflammation.
It is usually prescribed for conditions such as bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, or after eye surgeries to prevent infection and control inflammation. The drops should be used strictly as directed by a doctor, and hygiene must be maintained while applying to avoid contamination.
Common side effects may include eye irritation, burning or stinging sensation, temporary blurred vision, or a feeling of something in the eye. Prolonged use may increase the risk of eye pressure (glaucoma), cataract formation, or secondary infections like fungal or viral infections.
Rare but serious side effects include eye pain, vision changes, or severe allergic reactions such as swelling, itching, or rash around the eyes. If any of these occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. The drops should not be used in viral or fungal eye infections without a doctorβs advice.
