Description
GLIMP-MP 2 Tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine used to control high blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a combination of Glimepiride (2 mg), Metformin (500 mg), and Pioglitazone (15 mg). Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, and Pioglitazone enhances the bodyβs response to insulin. This combination helps keep blood sugar under control, thereby preventing complications such as kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, and heart disease. It is generally prescribed when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy are not enough to manage diabetes.
Common Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) causing weakness, sweating, dizziness, or hunger
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea
Weight gain
Headache, muscle pain
Edema (swelling in feet or ankles)
Serious Side Effects (require immediate medical attention):
Signs of liver problems (yellow skin/eyes, dark urine)
Shortness of breath or chest pain
Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)
Vision changes
It should be taken with meals to reduce stomach upset and the risk of low blood sugar. Regular monitoring of blood glucose, diet control, and exercise are important while on this medicine.
