Description
Amoxyclav 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic containing Amoxicillin (500 mg) and Clavulanic Acid (125 mg). It is widely used to treat bacterial infections like respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin infections, dental infections, and infections of the ear, nose, and throat.
Uses:
Amoxyclav 625 works by stopping the growth of harmful bacteria. Amoxicillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, kills bacteria by preventing their cell wall formation. Clavulanic acid helps overcome resistance by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, making the combination more effective. It is commonly prescribed for conditions like sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, dental abscess, bone infections, and cellulitis.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and skin rash. Some people may experience headaches, dizziness, or indigestion. In rare cases, allergic reactions like swelling, itching, or breathing difficulty may occur. Prolonged use can also lead to fungal infections or antibiotic-associated colitis. Liver enzyme changes and jaundice are rare but possible with long-term use. Always take the medicine as prescribed and complete the full course to avoid antibiotic resistance or recurrence of infection.
