Description
Cefitake 50 Syrup is an antibiotic preparation that contains Cefixime 50 mg/5 ml, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is commonly prescribed for children to treat bacterial infections. Cefixime works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, thereby stopping the infection from spreading. It is not effective against viral infections such as cold or flu.
Uses:
Treatment of respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and bronchitis
Management of ear, nose, and throat infections (like otitis media)
Effective in urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by susceptible bacteria
Used for certain gastrointestinal infections like typhoid fever and bacterial diarrhea
Treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea and other susceptible bacterial infections
Side Effects:
Cefitake 50 Syrup is generally safe when taken as prescribed, but some children may experience:
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, indigestion
Occasional: Headache, dizziness, mild skin rash
Rare but serious: Severe diarrhea (Clostridium difficile-associated), allergic reactions (swelling, itching, breathing difficulty), jaundice, or liver enzyme elevation
Precautions:
Complete the full course as prescribed to prevent antibiotic resistance. Use with caution in children with liver or kidney issues. Report any allergic reaction immediately. Avoid unnecessary or prolonged use without a doctorβs advice.
