Description

Cefredrox 100 Syrup contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100 mg per 5 ml, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria by interfering with their cell wall synthesis, leading to their destruction. This medicine is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Uses:

• Treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis

• Management of ear, nose, and throat infections like otitis media and pharyngitis/tonsillitis

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Certain sexually transmitted infections (as prescribed)

• Bacterial diarrhea and typhoid fever (in specific cases)

Side Effects:
Cefredrox 100 Syrup is generally well tolerated but may cause:

• Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain

• Occasional: Headache, dizziness, skin rash, mild fever

• Rare but serious: Severe allergic reactions (swelling, difficulty breathing), severe diarrhea due to Clostridium difficile infection, changes in liver enzymes, or low white blood cell count

Precautions:
Shake well before use and take with food to improve absorption. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Avoid use in patients allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins. Use under medical supervision, especially in children and patients with kidney problems.
