Description

Cofdex Syrup is a cough formulation commonly prescribed for the relief of dry cough that is not accompanied by mucus. It usually contains Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant), Chlorpheniramine (antihistamine), and Phenylephrine (decongestant). Together, these ingredients act to reduce cough reflex, control allergy-related symptoms, and relieve nasal congestion.

Uses:

• Relief from dry and irritating cough.

• Helps in allergic cough by reducing sneezing, runny nose, and throat irritation.

• Provides relief in nasal congestion and blocked nose due to cold or flu.

• Reduces postnasal drip and throat discomfort.

• Sometimes prescribed in seasonal allergies and common cold-related cough.

Side Effects:
Like most medicines, Cofdex Syrup may cause mild to moderate side effects, especially if taken more than the prescribed dose.

• Common effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, upset stomach, blurred vision.

• Allergic effects: Skin rash, itching, swelling (rare).

• Serious but uncommon effects: Fast heartbeat, confusion, difficulty urinating, or hallucinations.

• Overdose may cause excessive sleepiness or restlessness.

This syrup should be taken only on a doctor’s advice, avoided in children below a certain age (usually under 6 years), and not combined with alcohol or other sedatives.
