Doxil 100 Tablet contains Doxycycline 100 mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline group. It is widely used to treat various bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping their growth and preventing the spread of infection.

Uses

• Treatment of respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis

• Skin infections including acne and rosacea

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like chlamydia

• Eye infections caused by bacteria

• Certain types of intestinal and gum infections

• As part of combination therapy for malaria prevention in travelers to high-risk areas

• Treatment of rickettsial infections, cholera, and leptospirosis

Side Effects

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache

• Occasional: Skin sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity), dizziness, or mild rash

• Rare but serious: Severe allergic reactions, difficulty swallowing, liver problems, discoloration of teeth (especially with prolonged use), or severe intestinal issues like antibiotic-associated colitis

Precautions

Take with plenty of water and avoid lying down immediately afterward. Avoid excessive sunlight or UV exposure. Not recommended during pregnancy or in children under 8 years due to risk of tooth discoloration and bone effects. Use only under medical supervision.
