Description

Entoquol Tablet is generally prescribed for the treatment of intestinal amoebiasis, liver abscess, and other protozoal infections caused by Entamoeba histolytica. It contains Diloxanide furoate, an anti-amoebic agent that acts directly on the parasite present in the intestine. Doctors usually recommend it as a luminal amoebicide to eliminate residual cysts after treatment of acute amoebic dysentery, thereby preventing recurrence. It is often given along with tissue-acting agents such as metronidazole for complete eradication of the infection.

Uses of Entoquol Tablet:

• Treatment of chronic intestinal amoebiasis

• Elimination of amoebic cysts from the intestine

• Supportive therapy in amoebic liver abscess (with other drugs)

• Prevention of relapse after acute amoebic dysentery

Possible Side Effects (usually mild and temporary):

• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps

• Flatulence, bloating, diarrhea

• Headache, dizziness

• Itching or skin rash (rare)

• In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions

This medicine should be taken as per doctor’s advice, usually after meals, and avoided in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless prescribed. Long-term or unsupervised use is not recommended. If severe side effects such as persistent diarrhea, allergic reaction, or breathing difficulty occur, immediate medical attention is necessary.
