Description
Levetranol 500 Tablet contains Levetiracetam (500 mg), an anticonvulsant (anti-seizure) medication used to control and prevent epileptic seizures. It works by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, thereby reducing seizure frequency and severity.
Uses:
Treatment of various types of seizures, including partial-onset, myoclonic, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures
Adjunct therapy in epilepsy for better seizure control when single-drug therapy is insufficient
Prevention of recurrence of seizures in patients with a known seizure disorder
Sometimes prescribed to manage seizure-like conditions after brain injury or surgery (as advised by a neurologist)
Side Effects:
Levetranol 500 Tablet is generally well tolerated but may cause:
Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, headache, weakness, and sleep disturbances
Occasional: Irritability, mood swings, anxiety, loss of appetite, or stomach discomfort
Rare but serious: Severe mood changes (depression, suicidal thoughts), hallucinations, coordination problems, or severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)
Precautions:
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Do not stop abruptly to avoid withdrawal seizures. Use caution while driving or operating machines as it may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Regular follow-up with a doctor is essential to monitor response and side effects.
