Description
Liv-Cet Syrup 30 ml contains Levocetirizine, an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergies. It works by blocking histamine, a chemical responsible for allergic reactions, thereby reducing itching, swelling, and other allergy-related symptoms. It is commonly prescribed for both seasonal and year-round allergies.
Uses:
Relief from allergic rhinitis symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, and itchy/watery eyes
Management of chronic urticaria (hives) to reduce itching and rashes
Relief from skin allergies and irritation caused by insect bites or environmental allergens
Supportive treatment in mild asthma or respiratory allergies (as part of a doctorβs plan)
Side Effects:
Common: Drowsiness, tiredness, dry mouth, headache
Occasional: Stomach pain, nausea, dizziness
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions like rash, swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing
In some cases, it may cause mood changes, palpitations, or blurred vision
Long-term or high-dose use without medical advice may affect kidney function in people with pre-existing kidney disease
This syrup is usually taken once daily, preferably in the evening, with or without food. Dosage depends on age, weight, and medical condition. It should not be given to children under 2 years without a doctorβs advice. Avoid alcohol while taking it, as it can increase drowsiness.
