Description

Metform SR 1000 Tablet contains Metformin Hydrochloride (Sustained Release) 1000 mg, an oral anti-diabetic medicine from the biguanide class. It is commonly prescribed to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by controlling high blood sugar levels and improving the body’s response to insulin. Unlike some other diabetes medicines, it does not cause sudden drops in blood sugar and can also aid in weight management.

Uses

• Helps lower and control blood sugar levels in Type 2 Diabetes

• Improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin and decreases glucose production in the liver

• Reduces the absorption of sugar from the intestines

Side Effects

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, metallic taste in mouth

• Occasional: Weakness, mild abdominal discomfort

• Rare but serious: Lactic acidosis (symptoms include severe weakness, rapid breathing, drowsiness, or muscle pain) – requires immediate medical attention
