Description

Metronidazole 400 Tablet is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria and protozoa, making it effective in treating infections of the stomach, intestines, liver, skin, joints, brain, lungs, and reproductive system. Commonly, it is prescribed for conditions such as amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, pelvic infections, and dental infections. It may also be used in combination with other antibiotics for ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori.

Uses:

• Treatment of intestinal infections like amoebiasis and giardiasis

• Management of vaginal infections (trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis)

• Dental infections and gum diseases

• Post-surgical infections, especially in the abdomen or pelvis

• Skin and soft tissue infections caused by anaerobic bacteria

Side Effects:
Most side effects are mild and temporary. Common ones include nausea, vomiting, metallic taste, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache. Some people may experience dizziness, dry mouth, or dark-colored urine. Serious but rare side effects include seizures, numbness, tingling of limbs, liver problems, or allergic reactions. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment, as it may cause severe reactions like nausea, flushing, and palpitations.
