Description
Novaclav 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic that contains Amoxicillin (500 mg) and Clavulanic Acid (125 mg). Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria, while clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, which makes amoxicillin effective against resistant bacterial strains.
Uses:
Treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis
Management of urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
Effective against ear, nose, and throat infections like otitis media and tonsillitis
Management of dental infections or abscesses
Used in certain cases of bone and joint infections under doctorβs supervision
Side Effects:
Novaclav 625 is generally well tolerated, but some patients may experience:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort
Occasional: Headache, dizziness, mild skin rash or itching
Rare but serious: Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), liver enzyme changes, jaundice, severe diarrhea (possible Clostridium difficile infection)
Precautions:
Take the tablet after meals to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course as prescribed to prevent antibiotic resistance. Avoid in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or severe liver/kidney disease. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen during treatment.
