Description
Pantosec DSR (by Cipla) is a combination medication containing Pantoprazole (40 mg) and Domperidone (30 mg). It is mainly used to treat acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, and indigestion.
Uses:
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Domperidone is a prokinetic that helps move food through the stomach faster and prevents nausea and vomiting. Together, they relieve symptoms like acidity, bloating, and a heavy stomach. Pantosec DSR is commonly prescribed for conditions like peptic ulcers, esophagitis, and nausea related to acid reflux or delayed stomach emptying.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, dry mouth, abdominal pain, dizziness, and fatigue. Some people may experience nausea or flatulence. Long-term use can cause low magnesium or vitamin B12 levels, especially in elderly patients. Rarely, it may lead to allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat, or severe gastrointestinal issues. Domperidone may also raise the risk of heart rhythm disorders, particularly in older adults or those with preexisting heart conditions.
