Description
Vominil-MD Tablet is a medicine that contains Ondansetron, an antiemetic drug that works by blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in the brain and gut, which are responsible for triggering nausea and vomiting. The “MD” stands for mouth-dissolving, meaning the tablet dissolves quickly in the mouth without the need for water, making it convenient for patients who feel nauseous.
Uses:
Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery
Relief from vomiting due to gastroenteritis, food poisoning, or drug-induced nausea (as advised by a doctor)
Helpful in post-operative nausea and vomiting management
Sometimes used in pregnancy-related severe nausea and vomiting (only under strict medical advice)
Side Effects:
Vominil-MD is usually well tolerated but may cause:
Common: Headache, constipation, dizziness, fatigue
Occasional: Flushing, dry mouth, mild stomach discomfort
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), irregular heartbeat, chest pain, or severe dizziness
Precautions:
Should be taken as prescribed, usually before chemotherapy or as needed. Not recommended for long-term use without supervision. Patients with liver disease, heart rhythm problems, or electrolyte imbalance should use with caution. Avoid self-medication, especially during pregnancy.
