Zoclar 250, manufactured by Cipla, contains clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and is effective against infections of the respiratory tract, skin, ears, and sinuses.
Uses:
Respiratory tract infections β It is commonly prescribed for bronchitis, pneumonia, and throat infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
Skin and soft tissue infections β Used for treating acne, cellulitis, or infected wounds.
Sinus infections β Helps relieve symptoms caused by bacterial sinusitis.
Ear infections β Treats otitis media, especially in children.
Mycobacterial infections β Used as part of combination therapy to treat or prevent infections caused by Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC).
Peptic ulcer disease β In combination with other medicines, it helps eradicate Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria linked to ulcers.
Zoclar 250 is usually taken orally and may be prescribed for 7 to 14 days, depending on the infection and patient response.
