Description
Uses:
This combination syrup is mainly prescribed as an appetite stimulant.
Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride (2 mg) is an antihistamine that blocks serotonin in the brain, which can increase hunger and promote weight gain. Itβs used for loss of appetite due to chronic illness, malnutrition, or general weakness.
Tricholine Citrate (275 mg) supports liver function, promotes bile secretion, and helps remove excess fat from the liver. It also aids digestion, which indirectly improves appetite.
Doctors may recommend it for underweight children, convalescent patients, or those recovering from prolonged illness.
Side Effects:
Common: Drowsiness, sleepiness, dry mouth, mild dizziness.
Gastrointestinal: Constipation, stomach discomfort.
Anticholinergic effects: Blurred vision, urinary retention (rare, dose-related).
Allergic reactions: Rash, itching (uncommon).
In children, excess dose may cause over-sedation or excitability.
Should be used with caution in glaucoma, asthma, enlarged prostate, severe liver or kidney issues.
Note: This syrup should be taken only under medical supervision. Overuse can cause excessive sedation or metabolic imbalances, and dosage is usually based on age, weight, and medical condition.
