Description
Cipla Cefix 100 Tablet contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for infections of the respiratory tract (such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and tonsillitis), urinary tract, middle ear, and throat. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria, helping the body fight off the infection effectively. This tablet is usually given to children and sometimes to adults in lower doses, depending on the severity of the infection.
Dosage should be followed strictly as prescribed by the doctor, and it is important to complete the full course even if symptoms improve early. Stopping early may lead to a return of the infection.
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and indigestion. These are generally mild and resolve on their own. In some cases, it may cause skin rashes, headache, or dizziness. Rare but serious side effects include allergic reactions, severe diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis), and liver enzyme abnormalities.
It should be avoided in individuals with known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins. Always consult a doctor before giving this medicine to children or if the patient has kidney or liver problems. Misuse may lead to antibiotic resistance.
