Description

INTAS CEPOCEF 200M Tablet contains cefpodoxime proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is mainly used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia and bronchitis), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections (otitis media), throat infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), and certain sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. It works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell walls, leading to the death of bacteria.

• Gonorrhea and other bacterial infections

Side Effects:
Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, and mild skin rash. Some patients may experience changes in taste or dizziness. Rarely, allergic reactions such as swelling, itching, severe rash, or difficulty breathing can occur. Long-term or repeated use may lead to secondary infections like oral or vaginal thrush. In rare cases, it can affect liver function or blood counts. Severe diarrhea with blood/mucus could indicate Clostridium difficile-associated colitis, which requires immediate medical attention. Patients allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins should avoid this drug. Always take the medication as prescribed and complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
