Description
CIP-ZOX Tablet is a combination medicine that typically contains Ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic) and Tinidazole (an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent). It is primarily used to treat gastrointestinal infections, especially amoebic dysentery, giardiasis, and bacterial diarrhea, as well as mixed infections caused by bacteria and parasites. Ciprofloxacin works by killing bacteria by inhibiting DNA replication, while Tinidazole targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, disrupting their DNA structure and function.
Uses:
Bacterial diarrhea
Amoebic dysentery
Giardiasis
Infections of the intestine, stomach, and urinary tract
Gynecological and dental infections caused by mixed pathogens
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, metallic taste in mouth, stomach pain, and diarrhea
Occasional: Dizziness, headache, weakness, or loss of appetite
Serious but rare: Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), seizures, tendon pain or swelling (especially Achilles tendon), and numbness or tingling sensations (neuropathy)
It is advised to complete the full course as prescribed even if symptoms improve early. Avoid alcohol during treatment and at least 2β3 days after stopping Tinidazole, as it may cause nausea, vomiting, and cramps. Always take this medicine under medical supervision.
