Description
Clobenate GM Ointment is a topical combination medicine that usually contains Clobetasol Propionate (a potent corticosteroid), Gentamicin (an antibiotic), and Miconazole (an antifungal). This formulation helps treat mixed skin infections where inflammation, bacteria, and fungus may be present together.
Clobetasol reduces redness, itching, swelling, and irritation by suppressing inflammation.
Gentamicin prevents or treats bacterial infections on the affected skin.
Miconazole stops the growth of fungi and yeast, treating infections like ringworm and candidiasis.
Uses:
Treatment of mixed skin infections involving both bacteria and fungi with associated inflammation
Relief from itching, redness, and swelling in fungal infections such as ringworm, athleteβs foot, and jock itch
Management of infected eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis with secondary bacterial/fungal growth
Healing of inflammatory skin conditions where rapid control of symptoms is required
Side Effects:
Clobenate GM Ointment is effective but may cause:
Common: Mild burning, irritation, dryness, or stinging at the site of application
Occasional: Skin thinning, stretch marks, acne-like eruptions (with prolonged steroid use)
Rare: Severe allergic reaction, increased risk of resistant infections with long-term use
Precautions:
For external use only. Avoid applying on broken skin, face, or near eyes unless prescribed. Use only for the prescribed duration to prevent steroid-related or antibiotic resistance issues.
