Description
Esopen-DSR Capsule is a combination medicine containing Esomeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a prokinetic agent). It is used to treat gastrointestinal conditions caused by excess stomach acid and delayed gastric emptying. Esomeprazole reduces acid production in the stomach, helping heal acid-related damage in the food pipe and stomach lining. Domperidone enhances stomach and intestinal movements, allowing food to pass more easily and reducing symptoms of nausea and bloating.
Uses:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Acid reflux and heartburn
Gastritis and peptic ulcers
Indigestion with bloating
Nausea and vomiting associated with acidity
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, dizziness, dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain
Occasional: Rash, itching, sleep disturbances, mild increase in liver enzymes
Serious but rare: Irregular heartbeat, severe allergic reactions, persistent diarrhea (possible C. difficile infection), very low magnesium levels with long-term use
Domperidone-specific risks: In rare cases, it may cause hormonal effects like breast tenderness, milk secretion (galactorrhea), or menstrual irregularities due to prolactin increase
This medicine should be taken before meals, usually once daily, as directed by a doctor. Long-term or unsupervised use should be avoided to prevent side effects and drug interactions.
