Description

Galpride M2 Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medicine that combines Glimepiride (2 mg) and Metformin. It is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients whose blood sugar levels cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. The two medicines work synergistically:

• Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, which helps lower blood sugar.

• Metformin (a biguanide) reduces glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption in the intestine, and increases the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Uses:

• Helps control high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes

• Prevents long-term complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, nerve problems, blindness, and heart disease

• Supports better glycemic control when lifestyle changes alone are insufficient

• Often used as part of combination therapy with diet and exercise for effective diabetes management

Side Effects:
While effective, Galpride M2 may cause:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness, or weakness

• Occasional: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) with symptoms like sweating, hunger, trembling, or confusion

• Rare but serious: Lactic acidosis (linked to metformin), severe allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, or blood disorders

Precautions:
