GLIMEPIRIDE AND METFORMIN

Description

Glimp-2 Tablet contains glimepiride (2 mg), an oral anti-diabetic medication from the sulfonylurea group. It is used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient. It works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin and improving the body’s response to insulin. This helps lower blood glucose and reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage, nerve problems, and vision issues. It is often prescribed alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medicines like metformin.

Side Effects of Glimp-2 Tablet
Common side effects include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) with symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, hunger, headache, irritability, or shakiness. Other possible effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, or weight gain. In some cases, allergic reactions like rash, itching, or redness may occur. Rarely, it may cause liver function changes, low sodium levels, or serious allergic skin reactions. Severe hypoglycemia can be dangerous and needs immediate medical attention. Patients are advised to follow their prescribed diet, monitor blood sugar regularly, and avoid skipping meals to reduce side effect risks.
