Description
Lee Dot Capsule is an anti-diarrheal medicine that contains Racecadotril (100 mg) as its active ingredient. It is used to manage acute diarrhea in adults and children, usually as an add-on to oral rehydration therapy. Racecadotril works by reducing the excessive secretion of water and electrolytes into the intestine, thereby decreasing the frequency and volume of watery stools. Unlike some anti-diarrheal drugs, it does not slow down intestinal movement, making it a safer option for short-term use.
Uses:
Treatment of acute watery diarrhea in both adults and children
Helps prevent dehydration by reducing fluid loss
Provides relief from excessive stool frequency without causing constipation
Often prescribed along with oral rehydration solutions for balanced recovery
Side Effects:
Lee Dot Capsule is generally well tolerated but may cause some side effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, fever
Occasional: Dizziness, tiredness, skin rash, or itching
Rare but serious: Allergic reactions such as swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, severe rash, difficulty breathing, or angioedema
Precautions:
It should not be used in chronic diarrhea or diarrhea caused by infections with blood or pus in stools. Adequate fluid intake with oral rehydration solution is essential. Use only for the prescribed duration and under medical guidance.
