Description
Lezid 600 Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It belongs to the oxazolidinone class of antibiotics and works by stopping the growth and spread of bacteria. It is effective against infections caused by resistant bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).
Uses:
Treatment of pneumonia, including community-acquired and hospital-acquired types
Skin and soft tissue infections, including diabetic foot infections
Infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria (e.g., MRSA, VRE)
Severe bacterial infections where other antibiotics have failed or are not suitable
Bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis) caused by susceptible organisms
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, metallic taste in mouth
Occasional: Skin rash, itching, stomach pain, constipation
Serious but rare: Decreased blood cell counts (anemia, thrombocytopenia), peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage), blurred vision, serotonin syndrome (when combined with certain antidepressants), lactic acidosis
Precautions:
Use only under medical supervision. Complete the full course to prevent resistance. Avoid alcohol and foods high in tyramine (aged cheese, smoked meat) as it may cause high blood pressure. Report unusual bleeding, vision problems, or severe weakness immediately.
