Description
INTAS Ondet Injection contains ondansetron, which is mainly used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. It works by blocking serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, which are responsible for triggering the vomiting reflex. Doctors may also prescribe it for nausea due to other medical conditions or treatments. It is usually administered intravenously or intramuscularly by a healthcare professional.
Uses:
Prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
Prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting.
Management of radiotherapy-related nausea.
Side Effects:
Most side effects are mild and temporary. Common ones include headache, constipation, flushing, and dizziness. Some people may experience fatigue, drowsiness, or mild injection site pain. Rare but serious reactions can include severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), irregular heartbeat, or chest pain. In rare cases, it may cause serotonin syndrome when combined with certain medications, leading to symptoms like agitation, confusion, rapid heartbeat, or high fever. Patients with liver disease should use it cautiously as dose adjustments may be needed.
