Description
Refaxinol 400 Tablet contains Rifaximin 400 mg, a broad-spectrum, non-absorbable antibiotic used mainly for gastrointestinal infections. Since it acts locally in the intestines without significant absorption into the bloodstream, it is considered safe for long-term or repeated use under medical supervision.
Uses:
Treatment of Travelerβs Diarrhea caused by E. coli infection
Management of Hepatic Encephalopathy, a liver-related condition where toxins build up and affect brain function, by reducing gut bacteria that produce ammonia
Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) to reduce frequency of loose stools and abdominal discomfort
Supportive therapy in certain cases of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
Reduction of risk of recurrent episodes of liver-related complications in chronic liver disease patients
Side Effects:
Refaxinol 400 is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience:
Common: Nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, dizziness, headache
Occasional: Constipation, vomiting, fatigue, joint pain
Rare but serious: Severe allergic reaction, bloody stools, fever, worsening of diarrhea (may indicate C. difficile infection)
Precautions:
Should be taken exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Avoid unnecessary prolonged use to prevent antibiotic resistance. Not recommended for patients with severe diarrhea caused by non-bacterial infections unless advised by a doctor.
