Uses of Rexigut 400 Tablet
Rexigut 400 Tablet contains Rifaximin, an antibiotic used primarily to treat certain bacterial infections in the intestines. It is commonly prescribed for hepatic encephalopathy to reduce the risk of recurrence by lowering ammonia-producing gut bacteria. It is also used to treat traveller’s diarrhoea caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli and in some cases for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D). The medicine works locally in the gut without significant absorption into the bloodstream, targeting harmful bacteria while preserving most normal intestinal flora.

Side Effects of Rexigut 400 Tablet
Most side effects are mild and temporary. Common ones include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and headache. Some individuals may experience constipation, dizziness, fatigue, or fever. Rarely, allergic reactions like rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing can occur. Long-term or repeated use may increase the risk of fungal or bacterial superinfection. If symptoms like severe diarrhoea, blood in stools, or persistent abdominal pain occur, medical advice should be sought immediately.
