Safexim 200mg contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It works by preventing the growth of bacteria. This medication is commonly prescribed for infections such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, and gonorrhea. It is also used in certain skin and soft tissue infections. Safexim is effective only against bacterial infections and does not work for viral infections like the common cold or flu.

The tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily, with or without food. For best results, it’s important to complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve early.

Side effects of Safexim 200mg may include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, indigestion, or headache. Most of these effects are mild and go away on their own. However, serious but rare side effects can occur, such as allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulty), severe diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis), or liver dysfunction.
