Description

Safexim-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic medication that contains Cefixime (a third-generation cephalosporin) and Ofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone). It is commonly prescribed to treat a variety of bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), ear infections, sinusitis, and certain gastrointestinal infections like typhoid fever and infectious diarrhea.

Uses:
Safexim-O works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Cefixime interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication. Together, they provide a broader spectrum of antibacterial activity. This combination is especially effective in mixed bacterial infections or in cases where one antibiotic alone may not be sufficient.

Side Effects:
Like all medications, Safexim-O may cause side effects. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. Some people may experience allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling. In rare cases, more serious side effects like tendonitis, tendon rupture, changes in heartbeat, or signs of liver dysfunction (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine) may occur. Long-term or inappropriate use can lead to antibiotic resistance or Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
